Center of Excellence for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco (CRST)

Led by Cristine Delnevo, this $18 million grant to fund the Rutgers Center of Excellence for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco (CRST) enables researchers to rapidly identify and analyze critical information in real time and generate timely information for appropriate regulatory and enforcement action by the FDA. CRST aims to perform rapid surveillance of:

• Tobacco product marketing, to generate signals of interest
• The tobacco product marketplace, to generate and refine signals of interest
• Changes in tobacco product use behaviors, to generate, refine, and evaluate signals of interest.

In addition to several faculty members from Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies (INTS), the project involves co-investigators from Wake Forest University, Stanford University, the University of Kentucky, The Ohio State University, Columbia University, and Westat, Inc.
